-아/어도 돼요?: ask whether you may
Ask permission for an action you want to do.

You see a seat but do not know whether you may use it. Ask about your own action instead of asking the listener to sit.
May I sit here?
May I take a photo?
A quick reminder before you practise
Ask for a location and understand 여기, 거기 and 저기.
Recognize a small set of present polite action forms.
Use the 아/어 form followed by 도 돼요?: 앉다 → 앉아도 돼요?, 찍다 → 찍어도 돼요? Keep a space before 돼요. In these situations, the speaker asks permission for their own action. Compare 앉아 주세요, which asks the listener to sit. The situation helps identify whose action is being discussed.
Try it yourself
You want permission to sit. Choose your question.
Complete 앉아도 __?
In this photo-permission situation, who wants to take the photo?
Build “May I sit here?”
…
RETRIEVE BEFORE YOU REVEAL
Say it in your own time.
Ask permission to sit, then to take a photo.
여기 앉아도 돼요? 사진을 찍어도 돼요?
Your speaking check is self-reported. Pronunciation is not recorded or graded.
